Ansca Mobile, maker of Corona -- the fastest and easiest way to create native iPhone apps -- announced they have received $1 million in backing from Merus Capital, the venture capital fund founded by ex-Google and ex-Microsoft executives.

Ansca Mobile plans to use the funding to expand company operations in both the development and dissemination of their mobile app building products.

"We will bring in more world-class engineers to help us deliver on our vision," said Carlos Icaza, Ansca Mobile co-founder and CEO. "Our mission is to lower the barrier for developing mobile apps and making it accessible to a much wider range of developers, not just traditional programmers."

Merus Capital cited Ansca Mobile's unique vision and promising potential as the primary reasons for backing the startup.

"We think it's a radically inventive approach to building smartphone apps," said Salman Ullah, Merus co-founder. "Right now, you have to be a very knowledgeable engineer to build a compelling app -- especially for the iPhone. And, before Ansca came along, the other end of development dealt mostly with web design and rarely crossed paths with mobile app development. Now, even if you're strictly a Flash designer, you can build great native iPhone apps. We think Ansca's solutions will become the standard way of writing apps for the iPhone and, eventually, other smartphones."

Walter Luh, Ansca Mobile co-founder and CTO, hinted at upcoming products that the company now will be able to push forward. "With our Corona solution, anyone with an idea will be able to build the next great iPhone app."
